New calculation of the dollar exchange rate started on Tuesday .. this is an interesting article explaining that they are lowering the 'spread' the bank makes from about 13 colones per dollar down to 7 colones.. but it is not yet reflected in this sheet today which gives the exchange rate all the banks in Costa Rica. Will be interesting to watch.

Since then, the Municipalities of Tibás, Santo Domingo, Montes de Oca and Belén de Heredia have followed their strong lead. Let's make this Country Wide!
Here is the official story about the reason for the Big Central American Blackout on Saturday ... there are other theories being tossed around. Also ... if you have your computer or anything fried by ICE here ... if you make a claim in a timely basis (I believe 10 days) and have all the necessary paperwork (receipts etc.) they have been known to pay for the damage.

Response to Jack Ewing's article on Snake bites: Thanks for writing this article. I’m glad to have been in Costa Rica when I received 2 terciapelo bites, one year apart. The most important antidote to the venom everyone must know – is a great immune system. In my case, I was able to neutralize the venom, even after having all the classic symptoms, after my second bite. I went to the hospital in San Isidro in both cases, and they determined the first bite, even when I neutralized the venom with NO symptoms, I had to take the anti-venom due to a small amount of venom detected, but finished treatment in only 8 hours. The second bite I waited 8 hours sleeping off all the classic symptoms, then going to the hospital the next morning where I tested NO venom in my blood, then went right home. I think I’m the first person to report ability to neutralize terciapelo venom with a properly maintained immune system.
I believe the secret to immunity is having a high level of anti-oxidants, oxygen, alkalinity, and anti-parasitic compounds in clean blood from a mostly raw vegan diet. Eating daily green smoothies, with kale, parsley, turmeric, ginger, coconut water, okra, purslane, culantro, fresh organic fruits, all helped. Drinking lots of coconut water to dilute the venom immediately I believe also helped. Dis-ease cannot live in oxygen rich blood, and I recently had my blood tested – 100 out of 100 – highest score possible. All from eating a vegan diet – 90% raw, 10% cooked. Nothing enters my body that diminishes immunity such as acidic, cancer-causing foods such as meats, fish, dairy, cooked oils, salt, wheat flour, and GMO’s.
